JUNE 20, 2025

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear St’a7mes Families,

As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for an absolutely wonderful year. It was especially meaningful to see so many of you at our recent Tl'a7ashn. What a beautiful opportunity it was to lift up and honour our students together — a true celebration of community.

With National Indigenous Peoples Day approaching, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of the Squamish Nation Education Department. Their partnership with our school and their leadership in the community lift all of us up. They are at the forefront of reconciliation, and it is a profound honour to work alongside them.

A few important reminders as we close the year:

  • Our last day of school is Thursday, June 26th. Students will be in session for one hour that morning.

  • The school office will remain open until July 3rd, with administration and clerical staff available during that time. Please call or email if you would like to connect before the summer.

  • The office will reopen on August 25th.

  • The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2nd, and families will receive more information on that day.

I want to close by sharing my deep appreciation for this school and community. I began my journey here ten years ago during the first year of the program. Returning this year, in the tenth year of St’a7mes, and stepping into the role of principal has been such a wonderful experience.

To our students and families who are moving on, we wish you all the best in your next chapter. To those returning, we look forward to welcoming you back in the fall.

In lieu of our weekly honouring of students I want to lift up and honour all staff, students and families that make this school a special place. We will have a gift for each student next week to in recognition of their work this year and to help send them off for the summer in a good way.

Have a safe, restful, and joyful summer.

Take care,
Cory Hartling
Principal, St’a7mes School
