Thank You for Joining Us at the Stl'a7áshen
Thank you to everyone who came out for the Stl'a7áshen. It was a beautiful and moving event, and I am deeply grateful for the presence and support of our families, community members, and staff.
What struck me most was the deep participation from our students and the strong connection and showing of support from the community. Many young people stepped into leadership roles for the first time, representing themselves, their families, and their communities with confidence and pride. As the Siyám of the school, I was immensely proud of our students and the staff who walked alongside them.
Thank you as well to the community for welcoming our new staff and lifting them up. I spent time this morning speaking with the honorees, and they were filled with emotion and love. This is a rare and special thing that does not happen in schools. For an educator to really truly feel the support of the community means so much.
This work does not happen overnight—many hours of planning, collaboration, and heart went into the event from staff, families, and community. Thank you, everyone.
Preparing for the Rainy Season
As we head into the final week of school, a friendly reminder that we are fully in the rainy season. Students should come prepared to be outside each day. We go outside unless it is unsafe to do so, so waterproof jackets, boots, and warm layers are encouraged. Please reach out to us if you need support with this.
Honouring Our Students
This week, we would like to lift up and honour the following students who lived by our school values:
Chén̓chenstway - Boyce
Tímit - Thiago
Wanáxws - Keanen
Winter Break
Lastly, please be reminded that Winter Break is from December 20 - January 4 and school is not in session during this time. School will reopen on January 5, 2026.
Take care,
Cory Hartling
Principal
🥗 School Meal Program
Please see December's lunch menu attached, in partnership with the Squamish Climate Action Network.
Our School Meal Program ensures students have access to nourishing lunches. We rely on family and community contributions to bridge the gap with government funding and keep the program financially sustainable in order to keep offering the program in its current form.
