PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

🌿 Sp’aḵw’us/Sx̱wi7shen Oceanfront Learning

Yesterday, the Sp’aḵw’us/Sx̱wi7shen class had a wonderful experience down at the Oceanfront, where students helped plant a number of important plants found on this land. They learned about our deep connection to our plant cousins and took part in giving back to the land in a meaningful way.

A big thank you to Superintendent Chris Nicholson, Assistant Superintendent Paul Lorette, Trustee Cynthia Higgins, and Trustee Lisa Turpin for joining us. We also want to express our gratitude to Matthews West for their time, and to Stayawat (Leigh Joseph) for sharing her knowledge. Roxy and Uncle Randy also joined us, offering their teachings — we are grateful for their presence and wisdom.

Events like yesterday truly exemplify who we are as a school — connected to land, culture, and community.

🪶 Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Family Terms Resource

We want to lift up Ms. Kye and Siyamken (Matthew Williams) for creating this exceptional resource on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Family Terms:
👉 Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Family Terms Resource

Our younger students have been spending time learning these terms. Please consider chatting with them about it — they’ll be excited to share what they know!

📚 Professional Development Day Reminder

A reminder that tomorrow is a Professional Development Day. There will be no school for students.

💫 Living Our Values

🥗 School Meal Program – October Menu

Please find October’s menu attached, provided in partnership with the Squamish Climate Action Network.

We’re excited to continue offering healthy, locally inspired meals to our students. Thank you for your support of this program!

🧦 Sock-tober with Squamish Helping Hands

This October, we’re teaming up with Squamish Helping Hands to collect socks and help keep our community warm, dry, and healthy.

A clean, dry pair of socks can:

  • Prevent blisters and infections

  • Provide warmth and comfort

  • Offer dignity to those living without shelter

Each night in Canada, thousands of people experience homelessness.
Right here in Squamish, at least 125 individuals are living outdoors, in vehicles, or accessing emergency shelter.

🧺 Our Goal: 1,000 Pairs of Socks!

Let’s come together to collect 1,000 pairs of new socks for our neighbours in need.

🧦 Please drop off new socks at the Sta'7mes School office
📅 Throughout the month of October

Your donation brings care and dignity to someone who needs it most.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
