PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear St’a7mes Families,

We’ve had a great week at the school! There has been a buzz of learning and excitement as students prepare for our upcoming Porteau Cove field work days. This learning is deeply connected to our school’s Theory of Action:

“If we actively embrace the Skwxwú7mesh Seasonal Calendar and a community-based approach to education, then students will deepen their connection to culture and place, helping them feel more centered in who they are. This sense of belonging will create the space for them to grow as confident learners, especially in building their literacy skills.”

We are thrilled to be leaning into this work in an even more robust way moving forward, and it’s inspiring to see students so engaged in place-based, culturally-rooted learning.

Please mark your calendars for June 17th, as we are preparing for our Pit Cook—a meaningful community event grounded in local cultural practices. More details will be shared soon.

We’re also looking to welcome a few more students to our wonderful learning community. If you know any families who might be interested in the great work happening at St’a7mes, please share your experiences with them and encourage them to reach out to us.

A gentle but important reminder: if your child will be attending a different school next year, you must register with that school. This is crucial for our planning and has a direct impact on how our school will be shaped next year. Your attention to this is deeply appreciated.

Finally, we would like to lift up and honour the following students for their contributions and growth this week:

  • Tímit - Darwin
  • Wanáxws - Owen
  • Chén̓chenstway - Keaton

With gratitude,
Cory
