The final week of school before the winter break was filled with joy and connection. Drumming and singing could be heard throughout the school, one classroom was transformed into a holiday train, and—thanks to Sqomish Forestry—we planted cedar trees on our school grounds.
The gift of cedar trees connects meaningfully to our larger journey with the canoe this year. Students had the opportunity to give back to the land as we look ahead, hopefully in the new year, to carving our own canoe here at the school. It was a powerful moment of learning, gratitude, and care for place.
As we move into the holidays, we wish all of you a restful and rejuvenating winter break. School will resume on January 5th.
Finally, we would like to lift up and honour the following students who lived our school values this week:
Wanáxws - James
Chén̓chenstway - Tristan Cowan Joseph
Tímit - Addision
Take care,
