Dear St'a7mes Families,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with excitement as we embark on a new school year at St'a7mes! I am thrilled with how our year has started and I am truly appreciative of how welcoming the community has been.
As we settle into the new school year, I would like to remind you of our upcoming Welcome Back BBQ, scheduled for September 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to reconnect, celebrate the start of the school year, and enjoy some food together. Directly following the BBQ, we will host our first Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting of the year. I encourage all families to join us for this important meeting. It's a great way to become actively involved in our school community, share your feedback, knowledge, and advice.
Our school is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment, guided by our core values. This year, we will continue our focus on the principles of Wanáxws (I carry myself in a good way), Chén̓chenstway (Together we hold each other up. We stand and work together) and Tímit (Perform something with all one’s might). Each class will concentrate on one of these values each week (through circle), and we will take time to honor and celebrate students who exemplify these values in their daily actions.
At St'a7mes, we practice restorative approaches to build and maintain a supportive school culture. Much of our work will be done through circle processes, which are essential to our approach. For more information about our restorative practices, please take a moment to review this document.
Additionally, I want to remind families about our school code of conduct, which outlines the expectations we hold for all members of our school community. You can review the code of conduct here: A reminder that the updated district code of conduct requires all schools to have measures in place regarding personal electronic devices.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to seeing you at the BBQ and PAC meeting!
Take care,
Cory Hartling
Principal
St'a7mes School
Please note that St’a7mes students are eligible for courtesy ridership (with exception of families living in Valleycliffe ). If you have not already done so, please register for a bus pass for your child if they plan to ride the bus. Bus passes will be sent to the school office within 2-3 days of registration and will need to be presented to the bus driver each day. Please follow the link to complete the bus registration forms: https://www.sd48seatosky.org/apps/pages/schoolbus Please find the bus schedule here.
This year, we will be once again using the School Cash Online program to pay for school supplies, and other items throughout the year. Please take a few minutes to register for this program on the School Cash Online website if you have not done so in previous years. Please find more information below:
The Sea to Sky School District # 48 is using School Cash Online as an easy to use, safe and convenient way for parents and guardians to sign forms and pay for their children’s school fees, such as field trips and yearbooks. Powered by Canadian firm KEV Group, School Cash Online strictly adheres to Canada’s privacy and anti-spam legislation and meets the latest industry standards for payment security. Any Canadian data collected is held on Canadian servers.
How online payment works:
All school fees and consent forms applicable to a particular student will be posted on SD 48’s School Cash Online website. Once registered, parents can choose to purchase the items/activities or sign the consent forms. Parents will be notified via email whenever their child has a new school event requiring payment/signature.
How to register:
You can register by visiting SD 48’s School Cash Online website. Your child’s/children’s first name, last name and birth date are required for registration. Once registered, an email notification will be sent when items become available for purchase online.
Please note:
School Cash Online will now be the preferred method of settling school fees and signing district consent forms. All parents will be encouraged to use this system. During our transition to online payment, parents will still be able to pay by cheque, made out to St’a7mes School, or cash, if they wish and sign paper consent forms.
