We can be Heros!
We come from good people. At St’a7mes school we use our strengths to support one another; we are all connected. We show kindness, treat others with dignity and respect. We care for people in need. We are connected to and we represent our family, ancestors, and community. We work with exertion and diligence.

Ha7lh Skwayel Families,
What a wonderful couple of weeks of learning we have had. LEX was at Evans Lake camp for a day of outdoor activities. All classes spent two beautiful days learning about local marine life at Porteau Cove. This Tuesday we had the rotary bike rodeo at our school. The CSA gardening organization has been on campus with our LEX groups to revitalize our gardens.
As you may have heard, I have been newly appointed for the 2024 -2025 school year to Brackendale Elementary School. I am very grateful to announce that Cory Hartling, former principal of Don Ross, and most recently involved in a district role working in restorative circle processes, will be taking on the role as principal here at St’a7mes.
This is an exciting time for our school community. All is coming full circle as Cory has been connected with St’a7mes since the inception of the Cultural Journeys and Learning Expeditions Programs in 2016. We are confident that Cory will bring a wealth of experience, dedication, and new perspectives to our school. Cory has worked in collaboration with supporting several of our students over the past couple years, and you may recognize him as a familiar face as he has been a family member and witness at many of our school ceremonies.
Cory is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. He is excited to work with our staff to continue enhancing student engagement in a vibrant learning environment. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Cory is known for his great sense of humor, being approachable and deeply invested in building strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. He believes that collaboration and open communication are key to a successful school community.
I am excited about the future of St’a7mes School under his leadership. Please join us in welcoming Cory to our community at [email protected] .
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school. I will continue to support the school community in the role as principal until July 31, 2024, and will bring all my teachings and my relations from my time here into my new role at Brackendale Elementary School. Many of our families and connections attend the school and I am thrilled to still be connected with our family and our work.
