PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear St’a7mes Families,

Our recent learning days at Xwáwchayay (Porteau Cove) were truly wonderful. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make these experiences possible for our students. These moments are powerful reminders of how place-based learning deepens connection to land, culture, and each other.

We were also honoured to be featured in an article in the Squamish Chief, highlighting this work:
🔗 Squamish students connect with ancestral lands through Two-Eyed Seeing
Please feel free to share this article—it is a beautiful reflection of the spirit and strength of our little school.

In keeping with Indigenous History Month (and reflective of the ongoing work of our school), our students recently visited an archaeological dig site on the St’a7mes reserve. This was an extraordinary opportunity—students were able to participate in the work and even hold items that haven’t been touched in thousands of years. It was a powerful and grounding experience, and we are deeply grateful to the Squamish Nation and the Simon Fraser University Archaeology Department for inviting us into this important work.

A few reminders:

☀️ Hot Weather Preparedness
The warm weather is expected to continue. Please ensure your child comes to school ready for outdoor learning—this includes sun protection (hats, light layers) and a water bottle for hydration.

🔥 Upcoming Pit Cook – June 17 at Alice Lake Longhouse
Please see the flyer below for details. Learning and preparation are already underway and we are looking forward to this community celebration.

🌿 Living Our Values
