Dear St’a7mes Families,
We know we are right in the middle of cold and flu season. However, alongside this, we have noticed a drop in attendance across the board. We want to remind families that we are here to help and that daily, consistent attendance is important for students to build routines, strengthen their skills, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning. We will continue to reach out to families to offer support, and we appreciate everything you do to help ensure your child’s success.
In addition to attending school regularly, daily reading at home can greatly support your child’s learning. We encourage families to make reading a daily habit. If you need resources or guidance, please connect with your child’s classroom teacher—they are happy to help!
We are excited to welcome Isha Nahanee and Julia Williams to our team! We are so fortunate to have them here supporting our students. Isha has been with us since the start of the year but is joining us full-time as an Indigenous Support Worker (ISW). Julia’s first day on was on Monday, also in the role of an ISW and we are very happy to have her! Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome back Joelle Bronson, who is returning from maternity leave and will be resuming her role in Learning Services.
We also would like to inform families that we are in the process of planning for the 2025/26 school year. Letters will be going home to grade 6 families as well as those in Learning Expeditions regarding your intentions for the upcoming school year. Please note that unless we are informed otherwise your child will be registered here at St’a7mes for the next school year. If you are intending on your child attending Don Ross or Howe Sound Secondary you will need to register directly with them. Thank you for your attention to this as we plan accordingly for next school year.
Finally, I want to acknowledge the following students who have demonstrated our school values:
Wanáxws - Darwin
Chén̓chenstway - Brandon
Tímit - Matteo
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can assist you in any way.
Sincerely,
Cory Hartling
Principal, St’a7mes School
