We can be Heros!
We come from good people. At ST’a7mes school we use our strengths to support one another; we are all connected. We show kindness, treat others with dignity and respect. We care for people in need. We are connected to and we represent our family, ancestors, and community. We work with exertion and diligence.

Ha7lh Skwayel Families -
What a great return to school we’ve had after Spring Break. Students have been settling back into classroom routines. We have had an addition to our school staff. We’d like to welcome Matthew Williams who will be joining us as an ISW and Language and Culture teacher on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
You’ll see in the pictures attached follow- up information posted by Atl’ka7stem/ Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative to our Herring Ceremony. This year has been a record year for Herring and Wildlife in our local waters. It is so exciting that the work of our students is part of this revitalization! What a meaningful example of project based and competency-based learning.
The weather has been delightful. Today students had the idea to have a picnic at their snack time. You’ll notice pictures of their time together.
Story Workshop continues to be a learning initiative for us this spring. Dixie Cameron from the District Itinerant Learning team will be joining us again next week. We have added an additional learning station in front of the office. These next few weeks we will be featuring Squirrel stories.
Thank you to all who joined us this week for Parent Teacher Interviews. We had a great turn out and value the moments where we can dialogue and teamwork around your child’s learning.
Freshii Lunches:
Through the BC Ministry of Education’s Feeding Futures Program our district has arranged to have Freshii lunches provided to our school on Mondays and Thursdays. This program is free to students and will start the week of April 15th. Next Monday the teachers will collect student orders for the rest of the month. Selections will repeat every Monday and Thursday for the month, and at the end of the month students will have the opportunity to change their order if they wish. This weekend please discuss the options your child may select so that they are prepared to make their choice on Monday.
The selections are as follows:
- Mexican Bowl
- Power Bowl
- Caesar Wrap
- Super Kids Wrap
- Super Kids Salad
- Cheesy Pocket
- Pizza Pocket
Students can add in a protein of their choice: Chicken, Falafel, or Tofu.
Teresa from Kiddosteam came to the Yew Yew and Sxwi7shen classes this week. Students participated in hands on science, math and technology activities. Please see their website for local after school programming.
We are looking forward to another wonder – full week of learning next week. Have a lovely weekend.
Most Sincerely,
Alysa Patching, Principal.
