Friday Update - October 29th

Good Morning,

What a day of goblins and ghouls, witches and wizards, little princesses and warriors.  What a fun day when all our students get dressed up and enjoy the day with their teachers and friends.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31, and Halloween 2021 will occur on Sunday, October 31. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.

We want you to enjoy the day but please be safe.  Parents here are some tips to make your Halloween safe:

  1.  Plan Your Night with Your Kids:  If it’s a party or door to door ensure that children don’t eat everything that drops into their buckets.  Give them a healthy dinner and maybe take pieces of an apple to feed them along the way.
  2. Wear Bright Colors and Reflective Clothing:  Use reflective tape on treat bags or on the back of the costumes so cars can see them and other people when the lights go down.
  3. Always Check Candy:  Please check all candy and don’t trust packages that are open or homemade from people you don’t know.  Ration the amount of candy children have through the day as it can be harmful if they have too much.
  4. Accompany Small Children to the Door:  Make sure to take little ones to the door and monitor the interaction at the door.  Some homeowners may have scary costumes or scary decorations that may frighten young children.
  5. HAVE FUN AND STAY SAFE!
