Friday Update - October 1st

Good Afternoon,

Here we are in the month of October – I don’t even know where September went.  We have had some awesome things happening in the month of September, in both Cultural Journeys and Learning Expeditions.  On September 29th, we all wore Orange Shirts to commemorate Truth and Reconciliation Day and to honor the Residential School survivors.  We had our elders come to spend time in the classrooms with our children, to tell them stories and to be part of the learning for the day.  We were all so grateful to have the elders speak at our assembly and spend time in our new Community Connections Room.  We want to encourage all our elders to come to the school and spend some time with our kids and to share culture and healing.  As a culture and language school we are so grateful to be able to experience the incredible traditions of Squamish Nation members, as well as the activities on the land, where children learn so many incredible skills and connections.

I want to extend the warmest thank you to Elizabeth Kerr for the donation of $3000 to our outdoor classroom.  I would also like to thank Cece and her team at Cliffside Ciders for the donations as well.  We are so appreciative of all the community support to help our kids and the school.

Have an amazing weekend and be kind to each other!
